Is the lack of English patriotism due to the North/South divide?

You might have a point there but to say that us Northerners don`t consider ourselves as English is wrong , i live about 15 miles away from the Scottish border but believe me i am English and very proud of it and so does everyone else around here, The Scots only become useful in forming part of the UK.
