I need an introduction for a persuasive speech [about John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men]?

"We all take different paths to the same destination. Some of us run, some walk, some stumble. But we know where we want to go--a place where our goals and dreams might be fulfilled. All of us, through all time, eventually find ourselves on the same road to what we seek, whether it is a job that will pay our living, new friends, a new home, a place where we are recognized--or pure, simple love and acceptance. The men and women in "Of Mice and Men" are traveling down that difficult road, and when we meet them we'll see that their paths are timeless. Though these characters are from seven decades ago, we will discover that their needs are the same as ours today, and the same as people seventy years from now." Of course this is off the top of my head, but this book means a lot to me--hope it is of some use.
