The screaming banshee...?

I was playing outside - I'm 13 - while I was babysitting. I heard some strange screams that fit the description of Banshee wails. I might be the slightest bit Irish, but mostly Icelandic and English. I live in British Columbia, Canada. Can the Banshee come to Canada? Help-I'm a little scared ha ha.
