I have seven bridesmaids, fiance only has three possibly four groomsmen...?

The seven I have chosen except for one, are all extremely close friends, three of them I have known for life. Well... my fiances lifetime best friend (who was going to be the best man) died in October and now he only has three groomsmen. I told him just pick a few other guys who you know pretty well, it's no big deal. Well he says, "I dont want just random friends in our wedding who aren't really close with me or you. It will just be weird and I don't want that." I can't say that I blame him but I don't know what to do now... Is it ok for a guy to walk two girls down the aisle instead of the usual one? Thanks!
