6 months of soreness in muscles or bones below my collar bone?

In the upper ribs below my collar bone and the muscles near the socket of my shoulder - I have had soreness for 6 months. It feels very sore at time, kind of a dull pain. I have been to the doctor and all he says is that it is muscular-skeletal and I should ignore it and it will go away. but its been 6 months!! i have given up on my doctor!! can any one suggest things? is he right? are their other doctors should see (like neurologist- ive been to an orthodpedist also and he also said ignore it).
